End of season

Well that’s the end of my first full race season, and what a year it has been! There’s so much to say about this year, so much has happened, I have had some of the most incredible experiences that are sure to stay with me for life, likewise I have learnt many lessons that I am sure I will treasure.

While this season didn’t go as planned, I really have nothing to complain about. I have been incredibly lucky to have had this opportunity in the first place and I have so many people to thank. I have already been planning for next season, lining up my training to set me up nicely for the next year, identifying some pretty significant issues that have been holding me back, and to keep things simple, 2023 is looking to be the season for me! There’s so much which held me back this season, things which weren’t necessarily out of my control, but I just didn’t know better. I am building the perfect team around me to support myself and help me understand what I really need, and the steps to take forward. Cycling is not an easy sport, with all the crashes I have had, the literal blood, sweat, and tears, the psychological strength you must have, not to mention physical strength too.

There’s so many people to thank for this year, making it possible and so enjoyable. Fulcycle have been backing me for a couple of years now, dedicating so much time to carefully perfect my bike fit, as well as helping keep my bikes in top condition. They have been an instrumental part in my cycling, going above and beyond to ensure my equipment is not a limiting factor for training or racing.

My nutrition sponsors, Nucleotide and Torq, have been the heroes giving me the energy in my races and training. I’ve been loving Torq’s products, they taste amazing, and give me the perfect nutrition for when I most need it. Nucleotide have been so supportive in supplying me with their supplements to aid my recovery. Recovery products and supplements are something you never thought you’d need until you try it, and this has been my experience with Nucleotide and Torq. Recovery is as important as training, and these companies are helping me nail it.

The biggest appreciation has to go to my family. This year has not been easy by any means, but through it all they have always been by my side, even when things turned upside down. They have always backed me, even when they have to make sacrifices of their own, I couldn’t ask for better. Particularly my dad, who has been there through absolutely everything. Mentoring me in the best way possible, and ensuring I get all the chances I can take, he really has gone above and beyond this year for me, whenever I’m struggling he always knows what to say or do to get me out of my troubles, he knows me better than I know myself sometimes. His determination for me is moving, and I can’t wait for when all the hard work he has done for me pays off.

There’s lots of exciting new things happening over winter, getting started with an S&C coach, filling the gaps in my training, and improving my weaknesses which I’ve identified with the help of people around me. I’ll be keeping you all updated on my social media and here of course, there’ll be lots to be talking about!
